I enjoyed this read and would recommend it to anyone that likes a good, light, safe, western, sweet at times, domestic discipline love story. I found it entertaining from start to finish, as I read all the obstacles the couple faced. Especially with the very obvious villain. Hero was really a great guy. He had a strong sense of duty that helped a lot of people, but he was also gruff and strict. Boy could he dish out the domestic discipline. Heroine was headstrong, independent and prideful. She did not easily ask for help and was not open about things. She did not lie, more like kept things to herself to avoid getting scolding. I can understand, hate those "I told you so" from my husband as well:)Basically hero agrees to help town by getting new headmistress. Along way they have embarrassing moment when hero disciplines heroine for her headstrong ways. He believes she will not want to see him anymore and thinks it for best to leave her alone due to that. Thinks she doesn't need anything, including himself, standing in way of her thriving in town. However, neither can keep themselves from thinking about each other and eventually heroine needs help with something at the school and is sent to talk with hero. Eventually they talk and hero realize heroine is interested in him. The courtship begins but nothing runs smoothly as they have villain that has a vendetta against hero and heroine is not very open about sharing her problems with hero. There is also side story of hero helping a young gentleman out of bad situation that shows his good persona and ties him again to the villain. It really was entertaining from start to finish. There was some suspense, action and a twist on the saving scene.
It is a safe read. Hero is loyal to heroine. There are no OW or OM. Book is kind-a short but still good flow from start to finish. Still gave it a 5 because it really was well written, and I loved the plot and characters. This is traditional courtship so no funny business until marriage. But it is a steamy read! The climax and ending wrapped everything up real good. Would read more stories like these from author.

This book is a great read. The story between Max and Charlie is very intense and enjoyable, it is a fast read. Would recommend it to everyone
Amelia Smarts does it again! I loved her “Unbraiding of Anna Brown,” and was eager for more, so I was happy to see this book available to read. I loved this book!
From the very beginning, I liked Max. Honest and unpretentious, he says what he means and means what he says. He agrees to do the town Marshall a favor and escort Charlotte back to town as the new school marm. He has no idea what he's getting into. Despite her sharp tongue and refined mannerisms, she's attracted to Max, and though the two bang heads, she finds that she's eager to see him again.
He naturally protects and guides her, and she finds that although she initially is angered and a bit horrified at his insistence that he will spank her “high and mighty backside” if she doesn't behave herself, after he does indeed take her in hand, she is calmer, centered, and feels that he truly cares about her. He is fair and just, but doesn't put up with misbehavior. This is a sweet story of two people who form a fast friendship that grows into love despite the challenges they face. Highly recommend!
Enjoyed every moment of this book from start to finish. Especially loved the spanking scenes that this author writes so very well.

I loved this book! I don't always write reviews but I absolutely loved this book! Charlotte and Max were such a great literary couple. You saw their love grow and the care they also felt for Tim. I read everything from Amelia Smarts and will continue to look for her new releases.

Max,the blacksmith (sexy image😘), is sent to fetch Charlotte, the new school teacher. Max is an alpha male who protects those he loves. He is firm when he needs to be as Charlotte realizes when he takes her over his knee. But he is also gentle,sweet and loving.
Charlotte is feisty,'independent and at times too stubborn for her own good.
The writing is solid and characters well developed. The author did an excellent job of expressing their inner emotions which drew me into the story. I fell in love with Max and Charlotte and their love story. I recommend this book.
